Russia giving Olympic medal winners sports cars

Russia's Olympic champions are all getting luxury cars after the nation lauded its sporting heroes today during a special ceremony with President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

Russia finished fourth at the 2012 London Olympics with 24 gold, 25 silver and 33 bronze medals.

It's seen as a mediocre result in Russia since this is the first time the nation has finished outside the top three.

Still, Putin said there are many positives for the Russian people.

“If you look at our result at the 2008 Olympics – we took third team place there, but the number of medals we won in London is greater than in Beijing,” Putin said, according to RT.com. “So this is, for sure, an improvement.”

Russian athletes won an extra gold, and 10 more overall, compared to Beijing.

Hyundai was a multinational conglomerate company

Hyundai was a multinational conglomerate company headquartered in Seoul and one of the largest South Korean chaebol. It was founded by Chung Ju-yung in 1947 as a construction firm and Chung was directly in control of the company until his death in 2001.

Hyundai underwent a major restructuring and break-up following the 1997 East Asian financial crisis and Chung's death, following which the rump Hyundai Group's business was reduced to container shipping services, the manufacturing of elevators and tourism. Today most companies bearing the name Hyundai are not legally connected to Hyundai Group, including Hyundai Motor Group, Hyundai Department Store Group, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group and Hyundai Development Company.

Most of the former subsidiaries of the Hyundai chaebol continue to be run by Chung's sons or their heirs. If these companies are considered as forming a broad family business, then it remains the single largest company in South Korea, with enormous economic and political power in the country.

Acura is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company. The brand has been available in the United States and Canada since March 1986, marketing luxury, performance, and near-performance vehicles. It was introduced to Hong Kong in 1991, Mexico in 2004, and China in 2006. The creation of Acura coincided with the introduction of a Japanese Honda dealership sales channel, called Honda Clio, which sold luxury vehicles, joining previously established Honda Verno, followed by Honda Primo the following year. Acura holds the distinction of being the first Japanese automotive luxury brand In its first few years of existence, Acura was among the best-selling luxury marques in the US. Though sales were down in the mid-to-late 1990s, the brand experienced a revival in the early 2000s, due to drastic redesigns and the introductions of new models

Ferrari ofice-K Ferrari 458 Spider

As per usual, the Japanese tuner Office-K has managed to impress us with a different take on an Italian stallion. Imports into Japan are really expensive, so not surprisingly, the owner of this Ferrari 458 Spider saw the need to stand out even more than the craftsmen in Maranello wanted him to.

Office-K mated the styling of the Italian drop-top with added flare from the "Autoveloce" SVR kit made from CFRP and real carbon-fiber. This kit adds protruding side skirts, a front chin spoiler and rear add-on apron The effect is of a Ferrari that’s been sucked down to the ground.

Besides this, the Japanese tuner gave the Spider a set of Savini SV37 rims, sized 21-inch for the front and 22-inch for the back. It also gets license plate LEDs, racing livery in the colors of the Italian flag and a Kreissieg exhaust system.
